Trade Institute of Victoria (TIV) offers a range of comprehensive programs designed to equip international students with the skills and qualifications needed for a successful career in the Australian construction industry. Our programs are structured to provide a clear pathway from foundational skills to advanced management and supervisory roles.

Carpentry Pathway

Program 1: (Recommended)

CPC30220 – Certificate III in Carpentry: This program lays the foundation for a career in carpentry, a highly respected profession in Australia. It covers all stages of house construction, from framework erection to interior finishing. Graduates acquire expertise in using various hand and power tools, understanding building materials, and cost estimation. Successful completion enables students to obtain a Carpentry certification and pass skill assessments.

CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction: Building on the skills acquired in Certificate III in Carpentry, this program focuses on the management aspects of residential construction. It prepares students for roles such as Site Manager, Estimator, and Contract Administrator, focusing on residential projects.

CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) This advanced program expands the scope to include commercial projects, leading to qualifications for the Domestic Builder License (Unlimited) and the Commercial Builder License (Limited Low rise). It covers the skills and knowledge on which applicants are examined by the Victorian Building Authority for registration for a Residential or Commercial Builder.

Program 2:

Combines the CPC30220 – Certificate III in Carpentry and CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction. This dual qualification pathway is ideal for students aiming to specialise in construction management while having a strong practical grounding in carpentry.

Bricklaying Pathway

Program 1: (Recommended)

CPC33020 – Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying: This program lays the foundation for a career in bricklaying, a highly respected profession in Australia. This course comprises individual and group Bricklaying activities undertaken at TIV’s simulated construction sites, actual construction sites and in interactive classes. You will develop Bricklaying and Blocklaying skills to perform, observe, analyse and evaluate building operations as if you were running the Bricklaying component of the build.

CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction: Building on the skills acquired in Certificate III, this program focuses on the management aspects of residential and commercial construction. It prepares students for roles such as Site Manager, Estimator, and Contract Administrator, focusing on building projects.

CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is crafted to meet the requirements set by the Victorian Building Authority for registration as both Domestic Builder (Unlimited) and Commercial Builder (Limited Low rise). It covers a range of skills and knowledge that are crucial for aspiring builders to excel in the industry. This course opens doors to roles like General Foreperson, Building Inspector, and Site Manager.

Program 2:

Combines the CPC33020 – Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying and CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction. This dual qualification pathway is ideal for students aiming to specialise in construction management while having a strong practical grounding in bricklaying.

If the minimum number of students required for this course is not met, the course may not proceed. 

Construction Pathway

Program 1:

Combines CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction with the CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building). Suited for students who wish to directly step into higher-level management roles in both residential and commercial construction without the carpentry specialisation.
