Application process and how to apply:

In order to start your education with TIV, you will need to complete
an application per course title. For example: program 2 in Carpentry
Pathway (Combines the CPC30220- Certificate III in Carpentry
and CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction)
you will need to complete two applications here and supply the following:

  • Valid Passport or Immi Card
  • Copy of your secondary school qualification or evidence of higher education
  • Evidence of your IELTS 6 or Equivalent Test
  • Subclass 500 Visa (only for onshore applicants)
  • Evidence of Overseas Health Care Coverage for duration of enrolment period
  • Evidence of financial information showing ability to support yourself for a minimum of 6 months.

International Student Course Requirements

Age requirements: 18 years of age or over. TIV will not accept an application for persons under the age of 18.

Pre-Training Review

TIV conducts a comprehensive pre training review of each applicant to ensure that the course they are seeking to undertake is suitable, and the most suitable course for them. Factors considered include:

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy
  • Comprehension of the Course and its structure
  • Computer literacy
  • Reasons for wanting to undertake the course

English Language/Literacy/Numeracy Requirements

Achieved a pass result in level year 12 VCE English or VCE ESL or equivalent, and/or a sufficient LLN score in the pre-training review process.

The LLN takes place at enrolment and is conducted using a series of questions around, Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills appropriate for this AQF Level. To pass the LLN, the minimum score for CPC30120 Certificate III in Carpentry is 14 out of 18 questions and CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction and CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is 19 out of 25 questions.

Should the student not pass the LLN assessment, the Student Support or Course Advisor team at TIV will make contact and advise on if the enrolment in this qualification will proceed.

The LLN Test is available for viewing, must be read in conjunction with other policies and procedures.

Specific Course Entry Requirements/Preferred Pathways

The training packages state that there are no specific entry requirements nor preferred pathways are applicable to these two qualifications.

What happens after you submit your application

Once your application has been received, processed, and approved, a letter of offer and tax invoices will be sent. Upon return of payment and acceptance of the Letter of Offer, a formal Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) will be sent.

Please be advised we will not be able to proceed with your application until both applications are completed, and all the required supporting documents are provided. If you are not accepted into these courses, you will be advised in writing by our Course Advisors.

Administration Fee

This fee applies to all applications. Applications without the fee are not processed.


Re-assessment Fee applies to the following situations:

1. Failure to complete the assessment task by the scheduled date and requiring rescheduling of the assessment.

2. Failure to attend an assessment due to attending paid employment


Change of Course Fee:

Any approved changes to downgrade to a lower-level course after commencement.

Please note there is no fee for upgrading to a higher-level course.


Late Fee:

A late payment of tuition fees will incur a penalty of 10% of the total course cost
