The CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction remains a great entry into the industry and offers opportunities to take your career in a number of directions.
At Trade Institute of Victoria (TIV) students have the opportunity to complete CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction in one of two streams – Building or Site Management.
The Building stream is suited to those who wish to pursue a career as builders in low rise residential and commercial construction. This certificate, along with completed building projects, is a common pathway to becoming a registered builder.
The Site Management stream is designed for those wishing to become site managers and project managers. It equips students with the skills to effectively manage a construction site.
Students have the opportunity to complete CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction in one of two streams – Building or Site Management.
Both streams are delivered over a 7 month period via either face-to-face classes in Bendigo or the virtual classroom.
This is done to ensure that each student is confident in the knowledge and skills needed to go out into the workforce.
Students are required to attend two 3-hour sessions per week and site based practical projects are also included.
Core Units
Both course streams cover the same core units, giving students a strong base for whichever career path they choose to pursue.
CPCCBC4001 – Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for Class 1 and 10 buildings
CPCCBC4002 – Manage work health and safety in the building and construction workplace
CPCCBC4007 – Plan building and construction work
CPCCBC4008 – Supervise site communication and administration processes for building and construction projects
CPCCBC4009 – Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects
CPCCBC4010 – Apply structural principles to residential and commercial constructions
CPCCBC4012 – Read and interpret plans and specifications
CPCCBC4014 – Prepare simple building sketches and drawings
CPCCBC4018 – Apply site surveys and set-out procedures to building and construction projects
CPCCBC4021 – Minimise waste on the building and construction site
CPCCBC4053 – Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for Class 2 to 9 Type C buildings
Both course streams cover the same core units, giving students a strong base for whichever career path they choose to pursue.
