This course is for aspiring builders in medium rise residential and commercial construction.
This targeted program is designed for persons who have completed a CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction course and are transitioning up to the Diploma.
This Diploma meets the Victorian Building Authority’s requirements for a prescribed course for registration as Domestic Builder (Unlimited) and Commercial Builder (Unlimited).
It covers the skills and knowledge on which applicants are examined by the Victorian Building Authority for registration for a Residential or Commercial Builder.

Each student receives a package of material valued at $500 containing:
• The National Construction Code (Vol. 1) – Hardcopy pickup when Site Visit
• Forms and templates that can be badged and branded to be used for your own future use
For students specifically interested in becoming a Registered Builder, TIV provides a specialist workshop to prepare you for undertaking the Victorian Building Authority’s builder registration process.
The course is delivered over 11 months.
Students are required to attend timetabled training for one 3-hour evening sessions per week (6pm to 9pm), either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Site-based practical projects are also included in the timetabled delivery phase.
Note: Applicants who have already completed the CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction Qualification, may be entitled to credit transfers for up to 11 of the qualification’s 27 units of competence.

Only Victoria residents are eligible for the Skills First Government Funding. If you are from interstate you are able to enrol in the course but will have to pay the full fee.

- You are 18 years or older
- Construction industry experience is an advantage, as is experience in settings with transferrable skills such as:
- Competitive tendering
- Logistics,
- Property maintenance
- You have a laptop with Microsoft office programs (or equivalent) and internet access for the duration of the course
- You can read, write and speak English competently
- You have successfully completed a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment

Yes, TIV’s training services are delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth funding to eligible individuals.
If your highest qualifications is years 10-12, or a Certificate I, II, III or IV level or equivalent then you may be eligible to access government funding.

If you have completed a CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction you may be eligible for 11 Credit Transfers, thus reducing the number of units required from 27 to 16.
Yes, on completion you will be issued with the Nationally Recognised qualification:

- A computer or laptop with Microsoft Office (not an iPad)

No, students from interstate are welcome. However, they are unable to access government funding.
If you want to be a Registered Builder Unlimited (DBU), the combined content of both courses covers everything you will need to know.
No. However, the CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is a prescribed qualification by the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) and will assist you in your application with the VBA. To become a licensed builder, you have to meet the requirements from the VBA and therefore TIV cannot guarantee a licensed outcome.
