The purpose of the qualification is to meet the needs of Site Managers and Project Managers in the building and construction industry.

In this course you will learn to apply site surveys, set-out building and construction projects, arrange building applications and approvals, and develop effective teams.

Note: Applicants who have already completed the CPC40110 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) Qualification, may be entitled to credit transfers.

Each student receives a package of material valued at $300 containing:
• The National Construction Code
• The Australian House Building Manual
• The Guide to Standards and Tolerances
• Forms and templates that can be badged and branded to be used for your own future use

For students specifically interested in becoming a Registered Builder, TIV provides a specialist workshop to prepare you for undertaking the Victorian Building Authority’s builder registration process.

Delivery & Duration

The course is delivered over 6 months. It is comprised of 30 weeks of timetabled training followed by a 10-week phase during which any needed additional training and support is provided via our Student Support Program. We do this to ensure that no one is left behind.

Students are required to attend timetabled training for two 3-hour evening sessions per week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Site-based practical projects are also included in the timetabled delivery phase.

Note: Applicants who have already completed the (CPC40110) Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) qualification may be entitled to credit for up to 12 of the qualification’s 15 units of competence.

The cut off date to enrol is one week before the course starts.

TIV also has a full-time delivery of our CPC40110 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building). The duration of the full-time course is 6 days a week (Monday-Saturday) for 3 weeks. Is there Government Funding available?

Yes, TIV’s training services are delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth funding to eligible individuals.

If your highest qualification is years 10-12, or a Certificate I, II or III level or equivalent, you may be eligible to access government funding for this course.

If I choose the Virtual Classroom option, are there any face to face classes I need to attend?


there will be two compulsory Saturday sessions where you will attend face to face. One will be a Super Saturday (inspecting TIV buildings under construction). The other will be a site visit (inspecting private buildings under construction). These will be located around Melbourne.

What does the student need to supply to be able to participate in the Virtual Classroom?

Do you have to live in Victoria?

No, students from interstate are welcome. However, they are unable to access government funding.

TIV recommends doing the (CPC40110) Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) . While doing this course you can complete the 3 units for the (CPC40508) Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Site Management). This means at the end of the 6 months you will get two qualifications instead of one.

What time is class?

If you have completed a (CPC40110) Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) class is on a Saturday 9am-1pm.
