With all of your resources and links sent via email, all you need is a computer for TIV’s online building and construction courses.
Once Enrolled
Once enrolled up you will receive an email with a link to Dropbox that will have all of your resources on it.
Classes
You will have the link sent by email to click on and join into the class online through your laptop/computer. We recommend having headphones to listen
Having technical troubles?
TIV has a student support team available 6 days a week to help you with anything. Ranging from computer troubles to help explaining questions in your assignments.
Building and Construction Courses Online – Prerequisites
If you’re looking to get your start in the building and construction industry, and possibly even move into an Estimating, Site Management or Project Management role, then these courses allow you to study with convenience.
You don’t need any construction industry experience to enroll in most courses. However, previous experience or related skills such as those listed below can be an advantage.
In order to enrol, you must meet the following prerequisites:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a computer or laptop with Microsoft office (or equivalent). An iPad is not suitable.
- Internet access for the duration of the course
- WhatsApp downloaded for class interaction
- Video access for Zoom calls
- Availability at scheduled class times
- Can read, write and speak English competently
- Have successfully completed a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment

Yes, TIV’s training services are delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth funding to eligible individuals.

Yes, on completion you will be issued with the Nationally Recognised qualification.
No, only Victoria residents are eligible for the Skills First Government Funding. If you are from interstate you are able to enrol in the course but will have to pay the full fee.
The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) registers builders once it has established through its assessment processes that you are a suitable candidate for registration. This involves a searching assessment of your skills and knowledge, coupled with evidence of at least 3 years’ experience involved in running building projects.
The CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction course covers areas on which you will be assessed by the VBA. Accordingly, it is a valuable achievement on your pathway to becoming a registered builder.
This when then be followed up with a CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building)

Yes, there are support sessions provided every Saturday morning (except for long weekends) via Zoom. These sessions are open to any current TIV student. Individualised additional training and support is also available through the Student Support Team.
You can also call the office on 9399 9511 between 9am and 5pm and get some help from student support.
TIV has a range of training available. When we review your application and can see you may need extra assistance we will call you and help set up everything you need. We will also send through guides in emails.
