The Tigers have left the TIV jungle.

The historic group of nine Richmond AFL players celebrated the completion of the theoretical component of their Certificate III in Carpentry and Certificate IV in Building and Construction courses with an informal gathering at TIV headquarters in Williamstown.

Jack Riewoldt, Sam Lloyd, Taylor Hunt, Nick Vlastuin, Jayden Short, Jason Castagna, Todd Elton and Kamdyn Mcintosh are the ‘TIV Tigers’, and the first of seven AFL clubs with players studying at TIV to complete their formal training.

The group was acknowledged for their unwavering commitment and dedication to both courses, and for setting an exemplary standard of behavior and professionalism throughout their time at TIV.

Richmond’s TIV students have been pioneers in many respects, specifically with regards to breaking new ground for AFL players wanting to pursue a career in the trade industry supplementary to their football careers.

Trade based qualifications have long been considered one of the hardest industries for AFL clubs to assist their players’ educational development largely due to the physical nature of the programs, the commitment required in the courses but most importantly the lack of a clear and definitive pathway and flexible training provider for AFL players.

TIV has developed and implemented a flexible training model specifically for the Richmond group initially, which has been a resounding success since its inception and the catalyst for six other AFL clubs to also join TIV.

Richmond star Sam Lloyd spoke glowingly of TIV and the group’s experience throughout the program.

“We’d like to thank TIV for the flexibility of the program and all the support and assistance provided throughout the courses,” Lloyd said.

“All the boys are really grateful to now be in a really strong position to pursue a career away from football in the building and construction industry.”

TIV would like to thank all students involved for their commitment and professionalism throughout the respective courses, and wish them all the very best for the future and upcoming AFL Finals series.

GO TIGES!!
