The Trade Institute of Victoria (TIV) encourages all aspiring Chippies and Builders to enrol in the final Certificate III in Carpentry course for 2017 commencing December 4.
This course has been a resounding success since its inception, and hugely popular among men and women wanting to become qualified Carpenters and have successful careers in the building and construction industry.
TIV’s Carpentry program is recognised as one of the best in the industry, and one of the very few education and training institutions endorsed and subsidised by the Victorian State Government in 2017.
The course is run over three days a week for twelve months (plus 800 practical hours) by exceptional trainers with a wealth of knowledge, industry experience and highly qualified support staff.
Students begin learning their craft at TIV headquarters in Williamstown before transferring to the state-of-the-art outdoor learning facility in West Footscray.
It is here where they apply their skills in ‘real’ life situations and build in full scale environments to best prepare the students for what they will realistically encounter as qualified carpenters and future builders in the workplace.
A Certificate III in Carpentry qualification is also one of the more efficient and practical pathways to becoming a registered builder with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA).
The flexibility TIV offers is also a particularly attractive proposition for elite sporting organisations like AFL clubs, whose players can now simultaneously study a career outside of football while still focussing on their immediate playing careers and obligations to their respective clubs.
TIV now has close to 40 AFL players from seven Victorian AFL clubs studying trade based courses in 2017.
